Título

Hodgkin's lymphoma and its mortality rate in Brazil

Introdução

Hodgkin's lymphoma is a cancer in the lymphatic system, as the neoplasm progresses, the more difficult it is to fight it. In addition, individuals may have some symptoms characteristic of the disease, such as pain at the site of the lymphoma after drinking alcohol, night sweats, weight loss, pruritus, among others. Furthermore, the National Cancer Institute (INCA) estimates that for each year of the 2020/2022 triennium, 2,640 new cases of Hodgkin's lymphoma are diagnosed in Brazil (1,590 in men and 1,050 in women).

Objetivo

This work seeks to analyze the epidemiological profile of mortality from Hodgkin's Lymphoma in Brazil.

Casuística

refers to a descriptive cross-sectional study with secondary data obtained from the DATASUS database.

Método

Data were stratified by age group, gender, race and region and were subsequently crossed with population estimates to calculate mortality rates.

Resultados

During the period from 2020 to 2015, mortality prevailed in the age group of 60 to 69 years, with an average of 512 deaths. Regarding the race, the most prevalent was the white race, with 43.46% more prevalent in the white race than in the brown race and 90.72% more than in the black race. When comparing gender, the prevalence in men is 23.80% more prevalent in males than in females. When comparing the regions, the Southeast has the highest mortality rate, representing 48.36% of the total number of deaths in the country. The region with the lowest rate was the Midwest with 6.82%.

Discussão e conclusões

Therefore, it is possible to note the main factors that contribute to the death of this lymphoma. In addition, knowledge about the symptoms of the disease is necessary to quickly diagnose the neoplasm .
